How can European research remain open and collaborative while responding to growing security risks? What does proportionate research security look like in practice? And how can researchers and institutions be supported to navigate an increasingly complex environment?
INSPIRING ERA invites you to join a European online event on 25 November 2026, 14:00–16:00 CET, organised in collaboration with ALLEA.
Research security is moving rapidly from policy development towards implementation. Across Europe, governments, funders and research organisations are developing new approaches to risk assessment, due diligence, institutional support and decision-making.
This INSPIRING ERA online event will explore how research security is being approached in practice while safeguarding academic freedom, openness and international collaboration. Participants will hear about current European developments and different approaches being taken at national, institutional and funder level.
Through short presentations, practical examples and a panel discussion, the event will bring together perspectives from across Europe to explore key implementation challenges, share experiences and consider what is needed to make research security effective, proportionate and workable in practice.
Organised by INSPIRING ERA in collaboration with ALLEA, this event is part of a series of online events supporting the implementation of the European Research Area Policy Agenda.
