Have you ever experienced how the good research happening in universities can truly make a difference in society and the economy? This is exactly the focus of the conference entitled IMPAC3T‑IP event “Towards a broader impact”. Happening on 5–6 February 2026 at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, the two-day event brings together researchers, knowledge transfer experts, policymakers, and industry partners to explore how ideas can move from the lab into the real world—and make a real impact.
Two-Day Programme
The first day focuses on the launch of the IMPAC3T‑IP Toolbox and the IMPAC3T‑IP Academy™, practical tools designed to support knowledge transfer and innovation. Participants will explore topics such as licensing in the social sciences and humanities, socially responsible approaches in healthcare, and ways to collaborate effectively with industry and public institutions. Sessions include presentations, panel discussions, and opportunities for networking, allowing attendees to share experiences and learn from each other.
The second day is dedicated to the IMPAC3T‑IP Academy™ training, offering hands-on guidance in applying the toolbox in real-world scenarios. Participants will gain practical insights into different licensing approaches and methodologies, enhancing their ability to manage intellectual property and maximize the impact of research. The training also provides a path to become a certified toolbox user, strengthening professional skills in knowledge transfer.
Renowned Speakers
The conference will feature several speakers with broad recognition in the fields of knowledge transfer, intellectual property, and innovation. Federica Baldan, Legal and Policy Officer at DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission, brings a strong policy perspective shaped by her work on EU research and innovation frameworks and funding programmes. Andrew Goldman, Senior Advisor at the Medicines Patent Pool, contributes extensive experience in global IP and licensing discussions, particularly in relation to equitable access to health technologies. The programme also includes Nicolas Torno, Head of Patent and Inventions at the Institut Pasteur, whose work places him at the forefront of life-science technology transfer within one of Europe’s most renowned research institutions.
“Towards a broader impact” is an opportunity for professionals in research and innovation to connect, learn, and reflect on strategies for more impactful knowledge transfer.
